Re: hi everyone
Just joined on here as well so hi!
Once you get one, you'll keep getting more, believe me. They're great.

Re: hi everyone
It's the best way to get over the fear, I was never afraid of em but I know other people who are deathly afraid of them, or rather, were deathly afraid of them until they got one.
It's really responsible of you to want to learn as much as you can before committing to one. Props and good luck. (:

Hiya Jo and welcome to the addiction... but I think we should really post a warning about joining the hobby... it seriously does get very addictive.

Cyriopagopus sp.Blue"
Just to give you a warning they can be very defensive O and very fast plus they can grow big too let's say about 10inche's + so if your not up to it I wouldn't do it.I have an AF myself (wich just moulted) and she wont think twice about bitting me plus she like's to show plenty of threat display's .
I recone if you got one as a sling that might help .

Welcome to the forum Jo
I recommend Chromatapelma cyaneopubescens (greenbottle blue tarantula). Hardy, great webs, fast growing, ravenous feeders and absolutely stunning from sling to adult!

Re: hi everyone
Welcome to the forum Jo and the addiction
The proper name for a Singapore blue is Lampropelma violaceopes, Cyriopagopus sp. Blue is the old name
A best starter would be a chile rose (Grammostola Rosea) but a curly hair (Brachypelma Albopilosum) would also be a good starter or maybe a Avicularia sp.
If you need any advice or have any questions feel free to pm me, I'll be happy to help if i can
