My Only Pede atm..
Hey guys,
I got a centipede today sold as a Scolopendra species but I've been told by a few people its a Ethmostigmus trigonopodus "Yellow Leg" anyways I've always have a fascination for pedes and they are really interesting imo especially when feeding.
It was a present from my parents(Even though they hate it and think its from hell, they think its evil and disgusting)
Although they knew I liked it anyways
Please note that the substrate is what s/he was on when I got her, its now been removed and shes on some peat..
Here S/he is, enjoy

Thanks Ash, aye its venomous..
All centipedes, well most have quite potent venom tbh..
Theres only been 3 recorded deaths from centipede bites I belive in the past 100 years, so it would just be quite painful probably.

LOL I'm obviously being careful with it, got it in a real hard plastic container as alot of people have said they can bite through soft plastic..
Incase it would get out though, I've got the tub in a bigger tub also

Re: My Only Pede atm..
Stunning pede Peter
I used to have one also ... It was in the house for day lol
I bought it from the bts last year and my mum searched it and about 5 mins later she wanted it gone quick ! She found out that that the species i bought have such potent venom that morphine isnt strong enough to take the pain away from a bite and that they are escape artists lol
She put it up for free and replaced it with a tarantula

Re: My Only Pede atm..
centipedes are really not as bad as people think!!!
a little respect goes along way, as with all creatures.
case in point: http://atshq.org/articles/centipedes.html
though the tone is slightly patronising to the BTS, it was years ago and i don't think the ATS has anything but respect for the BTS...anyways it sounds like the article in question deserved a bit of derision
beautiful pede, Peter!

Re: My Only Pede atm..
Thanks guys it is a stunning pede, James I agree with you tbh alot of people say they will do anything to bite etc.. mines a fair size and when rehousing I used tongs obviously instead of my fingers xD to move it into its other tub.. it didn't try getting them or anything really just tried running off.
So aye not too bad, I would love a couple more if anything.. the only thing is I've bearly seen it except for feeding lol since I got it
