quick tip... if the flash over exposes the picture when you get in close, tape some kitchen roll over the flash. It softens the flash for close up shots
(you may have to play around with how many times you fold the kitchen roll, I fold mine twice (4 layers) and that seems to work fine)

and although he is very blue, the pictures made him look like he was glowing,
