spider set ups
hi all,
can anyone tell me what sort of set up i will need for a Avicularia Versicolor please, i know they need hight rather than ground space, but how much??? and what have you all got in there for them..
also as they are going to be slings how old or big do they have to be before they can go into a viv???
Andy is making me a nice set up of built in vivs so would be good to know before he makes a start,
thanx, xx

Re: spider set ups
my 1" A metallica sling is in a little pot from Asda, which is about 3" high. There are pin holes in the lid and sides for ventilation. It's about 1/2 full of substrate and there's a hollow bamboo tube in there. It's never gone in the tube but its webbed all round the top.
My sub adult A avicularia is in a custom aquaria setup, which is 6" square by 15" high. There is a tall curved piece of cork bark against one side, about 3" of substrate with moss on top and a water bowl for humidity. I also masked off the 2 sides round its cork bark so it can have some privacy and be in the dark if it wants.

Re: spider set ups
I use tall 5 litre cereal containers for the majority of my arboreals, with half a tube cork bark, or some plastic tubing for a hide. Works really well, and they only cost a couple of quid each.
And that's a nice looking sp. "Kwitara". Looking a bit chunky too. Is she mated? Mine has started to web up 5 weeks after I paired her. Fingers crossed
