my collection, and previously owned scorpions`
thought I would bang up a few pictures of my collection, and scorpions I have owned in the last year. Not all the collection is here though... need some updated pics
Current collection....
1.0.0 Smeringus vachoni immanis - juvi
0.1.0 Iomachus politus - adult - with bambino's (unfortunately I hadn't got the big tank sorted in time and she got a little stressed from the kids and ate the brood)
male
1.0.0 Smeringus mesaensis - juvi - yellow colour form
0.1.0 Smeringus mesaensis - juvi - orange colour form
0.0.1 Heterometrus swammerdammi - small juvi
0.1.0 Hadogenes troglodytes - sub adult
1.1.0 Heterometrus madraspatensis - female at top
1.0.0 Heterometrus beccalonae
0.0.1 Euscorpius flavicaudis - fisrt 2 pics are when i bought them, presumably 2i - OMG how tint were they! that is a cricket tub lid for size comparison.
0.1.0 Scorpio maurus palmatus - ever so slightly gravid, due in about 6mth
1.0.0 Diplocentrus spitzeri this has got to be one of the little gems of my collection. I especially like the telson, it looks like it has a double stinger
Previously owned: -
0.0.1 Opistophthalmus boehmi
0.1.0 Urophonius granulatus believed to be gravid but sadly didn't make it. this scorpion is just under 3cm
male is at the bottom
0.1.0 Hadogenes paucadins with 2i young - sorry for bad picture... my old scabby camera!
one of those bambino's
0.2.0 [i]Caraboctonus keyserlingi] - think thats too females anyway lol, not the easiest to tell apart

I quite taken by the little guys myself - very sweet! Still haven't seen them eat yet, but food seems to be disappearing.. I'll have to take some decent piccies of them at some point.

Re: my collection, and previously owned scorpions`
Here's my new little beauties
Bothurius sp. 'Long Claw' - probably one of the most beautiful scorpions I have ever seen
Hadrurus arizonensis pallidus
Calchas nordmanni - My one
This one we believe is gravid (looking after for Ray)- although it doesn't look like it from this angle! next to a milk bottle cap for size comparison
Iurus dufoureius - my little juvi - about same size as the Calchas nordmanni
Ray pregnant female, about 5" long - She actually attacked the camera lens when I took these pictures!!!
Euscorpius carpathicus - just a touch over 1cm long - adult size - gravid female - again looking after this for Ray
and last but not least.... Heterometrus madraspatensis poss gravid.

You find the males a lot more 'friendly' than the females?Lisa Baines wrote:I love the I.dufoureius, close up it is so spiny, proper evil looking thing.

My gravid female will try her best to eat your face, juvi females just don't like you, but the male is fine, no threats or anythin.

wow Lisa! nice to see the pics, they are fantastic.
i didn't know you had a S vachoni immanis?? i got one too, he's not as fat as yours, but thankfully he has eaten a bit...i love the patterns of granulations on the pedipalps.
also love the S maesensis. i have the yellow form, it's nearly neon. the orange looks nice too!
the Iurus is great, gonna have a close look at mine when i get home!
nice one on that Bothiorus sp Large Claw! i was amazed by it when i saw it at the BTS

Re: my collection, and previously owned scorpions`
yeah so was I. It's that shiny it looks like it is made of glass. Tried feeding her last night but she wasn't interested. She just kept flicking the cricket with her telson and running in the opposite direction. This morning she had built a burrow and pretty much sealed herself in.
The new Turkish species were all eating crickets as soon as they went into the tanks! I thought I had put crickets in too large for the Euscorpius but I was wrong lol. Even the Iurus caught her cricket before it hit the substrate.
I see what you mean about female Iurus Roy... she is Evil!!!
